Berria, Spain, offers surfers a mix of conditions throughout the year, with the best months generally falling in the winter and early autumn. From November to February, the spot sees the highest consistency of ground swell (72–83%) combined with the largest mean swell sizes (1.6–1.8m). These months provide powerful, clean waves, though wind conditions are less favorable, with bad winds (onshore or cross-shore) dominating 69–71% of the time. January and December stand out as peak months, offering the biggest and most consistent swell, despite the challenging winds. Spring and summer (April–August) bring a decline in swell quality, with ground swell dropping significantly (18–56%) and wind swell becoming dominant. Swell size decreases to 0.9–1.3m, making waves smaller and less powerful. Wind conditions remain mostly unfavorable (74–77% bad winds), though the rare good wind days can provide clean, rideable waves, especially in the shoulder months of April and September. September and October mark a transitional period where conditions improve again. Ground swell rebounds (45–63%), and wind conditions see a slight improvement, with October offering the best balance (33% good winds). While not as powerful as winter, these months provide more manageable waves with better wind alignment. Overall, advanced surfers will prefer the winter months for bigger, more consistent waves, while intermediate surfers may find better opportunities in late autumn or early spring when swells are still decent but conditions slightly more forgiving.
