Colotepec, Mexico, is a consistent surf spot with reliable ground swell year-round, rarely dropping below 95% probability in any month. The mean swell size varies moderately, peaking from June to September (1.6–1.7m) and tapering down to 1.0m in January, February, and December. The best months for surfers balance solid swell with favorable winds—November, December, and January stand out, offering mean swell sizes of 1.0–1.2m but with the highest percentage of good wind conditions (58–59%). March and October are also decent, with swells around 1.2–1.5m and wind conditions improving (51–52% favorable). The summer months (May–September) bring larger waves (1.5–1.7m) but suffer from less reliable winds, with bad conditions exceeding 55% from May onward. If you prioritize clean, well-shaped waves, target November to March when wind conditions are best despite slightly smaller swells. For bigger but wind-affected waves, June to September delivers, though onshore winds are more frequent. Overall, the spot is surfable year-round, but late autumn and winter provide the most balanced conditions.
