Easkey Left in Ireland is a powerful, exposed reef and point break that works best with solid groundswell and favorable offshore winds. Analyzing the monthly data, the optimal surfing conditions typically occur during the winter and early spring months, when groundswell dominance and swell size are at their peak. January and December stand out as the prime months, with groundswell percentages at 83% and 75% respectively, mean swell sizes reaching 2.5m and 2.3m, and consistent swell activity (only 2% no-swell days). However, these months also come with challenging wind conditions, as bad winds occur 89% of the time, limiting the number of clean surf days. February and November follow closely, maintaining strong groundswell influence (81% and 68%) with mean swell heights of 2.4m and 2.1m, though wind reliability remains low. March offers a slight drop in groundswell (73%) but still delivers solid waves (2.1m), with marginally better wind chances (16% good winds). From April onward, groundswell diminishes significantly, giving way to windswell dominance, particularly in summer (June-August), where swell size drops to 1.1-1.2m and conditions become less consistent. September and October mark a transitional return of groundswell (40-55%) and increasing swell size (1.5-1.8m), but wind conditions remain largely unfavorable. Overall, the best balance of size, consistency, and occasional clean conditions occurs from late autumn through early spring (November-March), despite the frequent onshore winds. For surfers prioritizing power and consistency over perfect conditions, winter is the key season. Summer months are smaller, windswell-reliant, and better suited for beginners or longboarders. Advanced surfers should target the colder months for the biggest and most powerful waves, though patience is required for those rare clean offshore days.
