Hvide Sande in Denmark is primarily a windswell-driven surf spot, with ground swells being rare throughout the year, averaging only 0-4% occurrence. The best months for surfers are typically October through December, when windswell frequency is highest (89-91%), and mean swell size ranges from 1.5m to 1.6m. January and February also offer decent swell size (1.5m-1.7m), though wind conditions are almost always unfavorable (95% bad winds). The worst period for surfing is mid-year (May-August), where swell size drops to around 1.0m, windswell frequency decreases slightly, and ground swells are virtually nonexistent. Wind conditions remain consistently poor year-round, with good winds only occurring 5-7% of the time, making offshore days extremely rare. Autumn and early winter (October-December) provide the best compromise of manageable swell size and slightly less terrible wind odds, though surfers should expect mostly onshore or cross-shore winds. Spring and summer (April-August) see the highest percentage of no-swell days (19-23%), making them the least reliable for waves. Overall, Hvide Sande is a spot that demands patience, as surfable days are limited, and clean conditions are rare.
