Il Castello in Italy offers surfable conditions primarily during the winter and early spring months, with the best periods being from November through March. During these months, the mean swell size ranges between 1.1m and 1.3m, with the highest probability of ground swell occurring in January, February, and December (around 21-23%). Wind conditions, however, are generally unfavorable, with bad wind conditions prevailing 88-90% of the time in these months. Despite this, the combination of larger swells and a reasonable chance of ground swell makes winter the most promising season for experienced surfers who can handle challenging winds. Spring (April) and autumn (October-November) provide transitional conditions, with April seeing a notable increase in wind swell (48%) but smaller wave sizes (0.9m). Summer (May-September) is the least favorable, with very low ground swell (3-11%), dominant wind swell or no swell, and poor wind conditions (87-92% bad winds). Wave size drops to 0.7m in peak summer, making it unreliable for quality surf. Overall, persistent surfers should target November to March for the most consistent waves, even if wind conditions are less than ideal, while the rest of the year is mostly marginal or flat.
