Las Salinas in Spain offers consistent surf conditions year-round, but the best months for surfers are typically November through February. These months stand out due to the highest percentage of ground swell (75-87%), which provides cleaner, more powerful waves compared to wind swell. The average swell size during this period ranges from 1.4m to 1.5m, offering solid surfable waves. Wind conditions are most favorable in January (58% good winds) and December (61% good winds), with November and February also delivering decent wind setups (56% and 46% respectively). The autumn and winter months benefit from offshore winds less frequently, but when they align, the surf quality is excellent. Spring and summer (May to August) see a significant drop in ground swell dominance, shifting toward wind swell (60-95%), which tends to produce choppier, less consistent waves. Swell size decreases slightly, averaging around 1.1m-1.3m during this time. Wind conditions deteriorate, with only 28-41% of days offering favorable winds. September and October mark a transition period, with ground swell increasing again (45-73%) and wind conditions improving slightly (45% good winds), though wave power remains moderate (1.1m-1.2m). For the best combination of strong, clean ground swells and manageable winds, late autumn to mid-winter (November-January) is the prime window for experienced surfers at Las Salinas.
