Latigo Point is a surf spot with varying conditions throughout the year, and understanding the swell, wind, and overall consistency can help surfers pick the best windows for good waves. The most reliable months are from March through September, when ground swell dominates, offering the highest percentage of rideable days. April stands out as particularly favorable, with 84% ground swell, low wind swell interference (5%), and relatively decent wind conditions (34% good winds). May through August also maintain strong ground swell presence (87-89%), though wind conditions deteriorate in summer, with June and July seeing only 18-20% favorable winds. Early fall (September) is another solid period, balancing decent swell (85%) with improving wind chances (33%). Winter months, particularly December and January, are less consistent, with higher no-swell days and poorer wind conditions, though February shows a slight improvement in swell frequency. The mean swell size remains modest year-round (0.6-0.8m), making Latigo Point better suited for intermediate surfers or those prioritizing consistency over size. For the best combination of swell and wind, target the spring months (March-April) and early fall (September), when ground swell is high and onshore winds are less dominant. Summer (June-August) can still deliver waves, but expect more challenging wind conditions.
