Pine Grove in the United States offers varying surf conditions throughout the year, with certain months standing out as particularly favorable for surfers. The best months for consistent swell and favorable wind conditions are September, October, and to a lesser extent, November and December. September is the prime month, with a nearly balanced mix of ground swell (49%) and wind swell (50%), along with the highest percentage of good wind conditions (52%). The average swell size hovers around 1.4m, providing manageable yet surfable waves. October follows closely, maintaining a solid ground swell presence (48%) and slightly better wind conditions (29% good) compared to the winter months. While November and December see decent ground swell contributions (38-43%), wind conditions deteriorate significantly, with over 80% bad winds, making sessions more inconsistent. The winter months (January-March) deliver larger swells (1.7-1.8m) but suffer from poor wind conditions (79-84% bad), often creating messy or blown-out surf. Summer (June-August) is dominated by wind swell (96-100%), which tends to be less powerful, though wind conditions improve (43-45% good). However, the swell size drops to 1.1-1.4m, resulting in weaker waves. Spring (April-May) sees a transition, with increasing wind swell dominance and marginally better winds in May, but the smaller swell size (1.2-1.4m) limits quality. Overall, late summer and early fall (September-October) provide the most reliable combination of swell energy and cleaner winds, making them the optimal window for surfing at Pine Grove.
