Scar Reef in Indonesia is a consistent, swell-rich surf spot with ground swells dominating year-round, rarely seeing wind swells or flat spells. The best conditions for surfing occur from April to November, when the swell is reliable, and wind conditions are most favorable. April stands out with perfect ground swell consistency (100%) and the highest chance of good winds (70%), though the average swell size is moderate at 1.5m. May and October also offer excellent conditions, with near-perfect ground swells (99% and 99% respectively), good wind probabilities (60% and 72%), and slightly larger waves (1.7m). The peak swell months are June through September, with mean swell sizes reaching 1.8m to 2.0m, though wind conditions become less favorable, particularly in July and August (38-39% good winds). September is a solid compromise, offering 100% ground swells, decent wind chances (55%), and a strong 1.9m swell. November is another great month with 98% ground swells, 73% good winds, and a manageable 1.5m swell. Winter months (December to March) still provide consistent waves but suffer from poor wind conditions (22-46% good winds), making them less ideal. Overall, the optimal window for surfing Scar Reef is April-May and September-November, balancing strong ground swells with the highest likelihood of offshore winds.
