Sabon seasonal overview

Best Surf Season (October - March)

During these months, the North Atlantic storm track is in full swing, delivering consistent powerful swell from the W, WNW, and NW. Average wave heights range from 2.2m to 3.0m with periods often exceeding 12s, creating pumping conditions at Sabon. Offshore winds from W, WSW, SW, and SSW blow over 40% of the time, keeping the waves clean and hollow. This is the prime window for epic sessions.

Fair Surf Season (April - May & September)

Spring and early autumn see a transition: swell energy drops to 1.7-2.1m with periods around 10-11s, still rideable but less consistent. The wind remains favorable about 35% of the time, offering fun-sized waves on the sets. It's a great time for rippable waves without the winter crowds.

Low Surf Season (June - August)

Summer brings the smallest swell of the year, averaging 1.3-1.5m with shorter periods (8-9s). The percentage of ideal offshore wind drops to 23-26%, and the dominant winds shift to N and NNE, which are cross-shore to onshore, often messing up the shape. Waves are mostly small and choppy, better for longboard or groveling when the odd groundswell sneaks in.
