Wilderness, United States, offers surfable conditions year-round, but the best months for consistent waves and favorable winds are typically from October through April. During this period, ground swell activity is more prominent (30-33%), wind swells are frequent (58-67%), and the mean swell size averages around 0.8-1.1m, providing better wave quality for intermediate to advanced surfers. Wind conditions are also more favorable in these months, particularly in October (63% good winds) and March (51% good winds), reducing the likelihood of onshore chop. Late autumn and winter months (November to February) stand out with reliable swell presence (only 2-5% no-swell days) and decent wind stats, though winter can bring slightly more challenging wind conditions (50-51% bad winds). The worst surfing months are June through August, where no-swell days spike (33-46%), swell size drops significantly (0.5-0.6m), and winds are predominantly unfavorable (69-73% bad winds). May and September are transitional, with May suffering from weaker ground swells (18%) and September showing improvement but still inconsistent. For the most dependable surf, target October to April, prioritizing October for the cleanest wind/swell combo and November to February for consistent swell energy despite slightly riskier winds. Avoid midsummer unless surfing smaller, wind-affected waves is acceptable.
