Super Suck sits tucked into Maluk Bay on the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia—a raw, cliff-lined reef break that delivers some of the most intense, freight-train lefts in the region. The name isn’t hyperbole; when a solid SW to W swell fills in, the reef transforms into a low-tide beast, sucking water off the live coral and spitting heavy, grinding barrels that demand every ounce of your skill and commitment. The wave breaks over a sharp coral reef, peeling left with a critical, fast-dropping take-off. Optimal swell direction is from the West, with solid SW energy also performing well, handling waves up to about 6 feet (1.8 meters). The best wind comes out of the Southeast, grooming the face and holding the line for those brave enough to drop in. While the wave is rideable at all tides—low, mid, and high—low tide amps up the intensity, narrowing the window for a clean entry and making the barrel that much more treacherous. This is strictly expert territory: you need to drive straight into the pit and commit completely to make it through. Expect company. When conditions align, boats roll in disgorging a lineup of hungry surfers, so the crowd factor can spike quickly. Supersuck sits in the heart of the Indonesian archipelago, exposed to a year-round Southern Ocean groundswell train. Although the beach faces northwest, the wave records tell a clear story: the reliable swell window is SSW-SW, while the N-NW window remains largely dormant in this dataset. The quality of the surf is governed by the monsoon cycle - when the northwest monsoon blows, onshore winds trash good waves; when the southeast trades take hold, offshore ESE-SE winds unlock the full potential of the south-tracking groundswell.

Best Surf Season (April - October)

From April through October, the southeast monsoon becomes the dominant wind regime. Offshore ESE-SE flow pushes ideal-conditions percentages into the 70s and 80s, while Southern Ocean groundswell averages 1.3-1.7m (4-6ft) with periods of 13.8-14.4s. May, September and October are the standout quality months; July and August deliver the biggest, most powerful swells but with stronger trades and a bumpier surface.
