Best Surf Season (September - October)
The transition months of September and October are where Tadado truly comes alive. As the North Pacific high retreats and the first strong cold fronts dive south from Siberia, the Aleutian low begins to stir, but more importantly, the lingering tropical typhoon activity in the western Pacific still pumps long-period S and SSW swells toward the Japanese archipelago. At the same time, the seasonal wind shift to the N-NE offshore quadrant begins, grooming those south swells into clean, hollow lines. The combination of powerful 8-10s period swell from the south and offshore winds from the north creates the most consistent windows of quality surf all year. You can still score S/SSW groundswell in October, although the window slowly narrows.
