Best Surf Season (October - December)

The Northeast Monsoon rears its head during these months, bringing consistent offshore winds from the north and northeast. With ideal wind frequency peaking at 46% in November and 37% in October, the Krishna River mouth cleans up nicely. Swell from the SSE and SE directions, averaging around 1m with periods in the 7-9 second range, provides clean, rippable waves. This is the prime window to score fun, groomed surf.

Fair Surf Season (January - February)

As winter deepens, the offshore wind pattern weakens slightly, but January still offers 19% ideal wind conditions. Swell mixes between E, ESE, and SE, with wave heights around 0.8m. The periods remain punchy in the 8-second range. While the quality is less consistent than the peak months, clean windows can deliver fun sessions, especially on a northerly breeze.

Low Surf Season (March - September)

The Southwest Monsoon takes over from March onward, with onshore winds from the S, SSW, and SW dominating. March sees a mere 1% ideal wind, and the pattern worsens through the summer. However, the monsoon also brings a rise in swell energy – from June to September, average heights hover around 1.2-1.3m with periods up to 9.5s, offering powerful lines from the S and SSW. Unfortunately, these are almost always accompanied by strong onshore winds, making for messy, blown-out conditions. Only the occasional clearing of the wind near the tail end of the season (September) offers a glimmer of hope with ideal wind nudging 23%.
