November: Mellowing Swell and the Return of North Winds

November sees a noticeable step down in wave size. Average swell height is 1.2m (3.9ft), though the period remains long at 13.3s. The wave rose is still dominated by SSW (78.2%), with SW at 16.8% and S at 3.5%. The bulk of the swell is in the 0.5-1.5m (1.6-4.9ft) range, and there are only occasional 1.5-2m (4.9-6.6ft) pulses. This is fun-sized, long-period surf that responds best to a log or a mid-length - still plenty of push, but the heavy overhead days of summer are fading.

The wind regime begins to flip back to winter. Ideal offshore conditions drop to 27%, with NNW (13.5%), NW (14.6%), WNW (12.9%), W (12.1%) and WSW (7.9%) all frequent. The good news is that these winds are often light, and the escarpment behind the bay can still produce clean glassy mornings. Water temperature remains warm at 29.5°C, air temperature averages 25.3°C, and precipitation dries up to 0.85mm/day. November is a transition month - not as clean as October, not as stormy as December, but with sneaky good waves if the wind cooperates.
