Best Surf Season (November - February)

The northeast monsoon takes hold and Car-rille comes alive. Consistent NNW and N swell, average periods in the 7-8s range and the highest percentage of ideal winds of the year (up to 30 percent) combine to produce the most reliable surf. Average heights hover around 0.6-0.8m (2-3ft), with December offering the most 1-1.5m (3-5ft) and 1.5-2m (5-6ft) sets. This is the time to plan a trip.

Fair Surf Season (March, September - October)

Transition months. March still sees NNW swell as the winter monsoon fades, while September and October mark the return of the northeast monsoon, bringing more size and a blend of WNW, NW and NNW energy. Ideal wind percentages climb back to 16-23 percent, but the southwest monsoon can still inject onshore S and SW winds and stormy weather.

Low Surf Season (April - August)

The southwest monsoon Habagat dominates. Direct WSW and W swell increases from June onward, but it is usually small and shadowed by strong onshore S/SW winds plus heavy rain. May is the lowest point of the year, with an average height of just 0.3m (1ft) and only 5 percent ideal wind. August offers a slight uptick with periodic 1-1.5m (3-5ft) WSW swell, but wind and rain remain the main obstacles. Expect groveling conditions unless a typhoon drifts close enough to stir up raw low-latitude swell.
