Ribeira Quente Left is a heavy, barreling left-hander that unloads along the flank of a massive jetty construction, peeling over an uneven reef that sits just off a sprawling car park and helipad. When the swell tops six feet and the tide aligns, this wave detonates with serious force against the sea defenses, offering short, intense pits that can spit you out right onto the edge of the rocks. On bigger days, stand-up rides may stretch further south into the adjacent beachbreak, giving you a longer, more forgiving finish. The unique twist here is the warm thermal spring that feeds into the lineup—hence the nickname “Hot River”—creating a surreal contrast of tropical water against the raw Atlantic swell.
