Average wave heights climb to 7-8ft (2.2-2.4m) and periods stretch past 12 seconds, putting this NNE-facing beach in the powerful long-period range. The statistics show that the N-ENE swell window is essentially absent, so it is the cold fronts and deep lows spinning below the African continent that supply the energy. When an S to WSW offshore wind greases the surface, the result can be pumping, firing waves.
