Tucked inside a sheltered natural harbour, Majanicho is a reef-lined cove protected by two rocky headlands that filter the Atlantic swell into a remarkably user-friendly wave. The main attraction is a long, right-hand point break that peels along the eastern edge of the channel. It peaks well out to sea and rolls in as a mellow, fat wall—ideal for cruising turns and long rides. When the swell kicks up, the wave can link all the way through to the inside section, offering extended runners. On the opposite side, a shallow left reef comes to life at low tide, pitching hollow on bigger swells and demanding sharper reflexes. The overall setting remains scenic and uncrowded, though creeping apartment development is slowly chipping away at its once-pristine feel. Best on moderate north-west swell with light offshore winds; mid-tide is most consistent. Best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers looking for a relaxed right and a punchy left alternative.

Best Surf Season & Climatology

Best Surf Season (November - February)

As autumn gives way to winter, the North Atlantic storm track powers up and Majanicho starts to fire. With the beach facing straight into the NW, the long-period groundswell generated by deep mid-latitude lows sweeping between Greenland and the Azores slams right into the Fuerteventura coastline. December and January are the headline months, with average swell heights around 2.1-2.2m (6.9-7.2ft) and periods regularly pushing 12-13 seconds. A negative NAO pattern can push the storm track further south, aiming even more long-period NW-NNW swell toward the Canary Islands. At the same time, the trade wind inversion weakens and the percentage of offshore flow from the S/SW quadrant climbs toward its yearly maximum, making for clean, glassy conditions on the better days. If you want serious, powerful NW-NNW surf at Majanicho, this is your window.
