September heralds the return of life, as the first autumn lows begin to stir. Swell heights average 1.1m but can quickly ramp up, and periods improve to 10.5s. The optimal swell directions from W (9.6%) and WSW (2.8%) are present and often combine with the longer-period WNW pulses to deliver heavy, pitching waves. Ideal offshore winds from N, NNE, NE, ENE, and E collectively blow 47% of the time, meaning almost half the days feature clean, groomed conditions. The wind rose shows a strong N component (14%) and NNE (9%), which blow straight offshore, keeping the face smooth and lined up.
