Wind patterns start to shift: offshore easterly quadrants become slightly more common, with ideal wind percentages climbing to 9-11%. This means cleaner windows open more often. However, the energy is less consistent than deep winter, and you'll find smaller, fun-sized days more frequently. When a late-season low slides across the Norwegian Sea and couples with an east European ridge, the spot can suddenly light up with solid, rippable surf under sunny skies.

Low Surf Season (May - August)

The summer months bring the quietest surf to Hvide Sande. Swell direction is dominated by NW (11.7%), W and WSW (both 8.3%), and WNW (7.8%), all squarely in the optimal window for the west-facing beach. This means when conditions align, the potential for heavy, pumping surf is huge. The catch? The wind is brutally onshore the vast majority of the time. Dominant wind directions are SW (9.0%), WSW (9.6%), and W (8.0%) – all direct onshore flows that chop up even the most promising swell.
