Løkken, Denmark, is primarily a windswell-dominated surf spot with very limited ground swell influence throughout the year. The best months for surfing are typically October through December and January, as these periods offer slightly larger swells (mean swell size around 1.0–1.1m) and marginally better wind conditions compared to other months. However, overall wind conditions remain predominantly unfavorable, with "bad wind" percentages consistently above 93% year-round. The swell is almost entirely wind-driven, with ground swell rarely exceeding 5% even in peak months. Summer months (May–August) see the smallest and least consistent waves, with swell size dropping to 0.7m and high percentages of no-swell days. While winter brings slightly better wave energy, the surf remains inconsistent, and strong onshore winds are a persistent challenge. For surfers prioritizing wave size, late autumn and early winter are the best windows, but expectations should be tempered—Løkken is a spot for committed surfers willing to chase windswell rather than a reliable, high-quality wave destination.
