Papara seasonal overview
Papara in Tahiti is a consistent surf spot with reliable ground swell year-round. The best months for surfing are typically from March to August, when swell size peaks, averaging around 1.7m to 2.2m. March stands out with 90% ground swell and decent wind conditions (45% favorable). April continues with strong swells (1.9m) and the same wind reliability. May through August offers the biggest waves (2.1m–2.2m), but wind conditions worsen, particularly in June–August where only about 30% of days have good winds. September–October still provide solid surf (1.9m–2.0m) though winds remain challenging. November–February sees slightly smaller waves (1.5m–1.7m) and slightly better wind conditions, but consistency drops slightly in December (75% ground swell). While summer months (December–February) are less ideal due to higher wind interference, the winter season (May–August) delivers the most powerful waves for experienced surfers, despite tougher winds. For balanced conditions—good swell and manageable winds—March and April are prime.
