Best Surf Season (July - October)

Summer and early fall deliver the Pacific's finest to Pascuales. Southern Hemisphere storm tracks fire consistent, long-period groundswells from the S and SSW - right in the sweet spot for this southwest-facing beach. Combined with a climatological increase in offshore wind events from the N, NNW, and NW quadrants, July through October offers the highest ratio of clean, powerful waves. Average wave heights sit in the fun-to-solid 1.5-1.7m range with periods averaging 13+ seconds, meaning punchy, well-defined lines. Tropical moisture can occasionally stir up onshore flow, but the majority of days deliver prime conditions.

Fair Surf Season (November - February)

As winter arrives, the dominant swell window shifts more westerly, yet quality remains high. Swell direction becomes predominantly WSW to W, but wave periods stay long (13-14s), and offshore wind reliability actually improves. December and January boast the year's highest percentages of ideal wind (47% and 46%), delivering glassy surfaces more often than not. Wave heights dip slightly to the 1.3-1.4m range, still offering fun, rippable waves, especially with the long-period energy. While the swell isn't maxed out, the consistency and clean conditions make this a solid season.

Low Surf Season (March - June)

Spring is a transitional period marked by frustrating inconsistency. The powerful Southern Hemisphere swell train starts to weaken, and wind patterns become less cooperative. March through May sees the lowest percentages of ideal offshore wind (down to 13% in April and May), with onshore and cross-shore flows dominating. While the swell direction can be favorable (SSW to SW) and average heights remain decent (1.4-1.6m), the wind frequently ruins the surface. June shows slight improvement in wind, hinting at the summer rebound. Patience is key - focus on early mornings when thermal gradients are weakest. Storms in the South Pacific still generate long-period swell, but the window for clean surf is narrow.

June: Swell Direction Strengthens, Wind Improves

June shows the first signs of the summer wind regime. Average swell height holds at 1.6m with a period of 13.7s, and the swell direction is overwhelmingly from the SSW (63.6%) and S (10.8%) - hitting the beach dead-on. This is the most favorable swell window of the year. Ideal wind improves to 27%, driven by an increase in lighter N and NE flows (total N+NNE+NE = 8.2% at 0-10kph). Still, the dominant wind directions remain WNW (18.7%) and W (16.1%), which can be side-offshore but are sometimes too strong. The 1.5-2.5m range constitutes a significant portion (S 5.4%, SSW 33%, SW 8.6%), offering powerful, freight-train waves when the wind lines up. Look for the first summer northwesterly pulses.
