The prime window from February through April sees the highest frequency of offshore winds, with March peaking at 12% ideal conditions. During these months, the South Pacific storm track is at its most active, generating long-period SSW and SW groundswells that arrive with average heights in the 1.5-1.7m range and periods averaging 13-14s. These are the waves that make Senoritas a true gem: powerful, rippable sets wrapping into the bay. The catch? Even in peak season, onshore winds dominate, so you need to pick your windows carefully. Fair Surf Season (January, May - June)

The shoulder months offer a trade-off. January and May through June still deliver consistent swell—often pumping in May when average heights reach 1.8m—but the window of clean conditions narrows. Offshore wind percentages drop to 3-5%, meaning you'll be battling more southerly wind chop. However, the sheer power of the long-period SSW swell (often 13-14s) can overcome some texture, offering punchy barrels and steep faces for those willing to work. If you score a dawn patrol with a land breeze, these months can rival the best of the core season.

Low Surf Season (July - December)

From July through December, the southerly trade winds strengthen, and the frequency of offshore flow plummets to 1-2%. While the swell never truly shuts down—average heights hold steady between 1.5-1.9m—the quality suffers dramatically due to persistent onshore winds from the SSW and SW. The wave period remains solid (12-13s), but the surface becomes lumpy and blown out most days. This is the season for the die-hards: short-period windswell mixes in, but the real juice is from the deep S-SSW groundswells. Only the most sheltered spots in the area might offer refuge, but for Senoritas itself, expect challenging conditions. If you must surf, seek early mornings and pray for a rare easterly pulse.

December closes the year with an average swell height of 1.5m and period of 12.8s. The SSW direction is still king at 87.7%, with a touch of SW (10.0%) and WSW (0.4%). Ideal wind is just 1%. The wind distribution shows a familiar pattern: S (27.3%), SSW (41.8%), and SW (22.8%), with SW winds now 10-20kph 13.1% of the time. This means more onshore wind from the west-southwest which directly ruins the surf.
