The southwest monsoon roars into full effect, hammering the coast with relentless onshore winds from the east and southeast. While the swell actually peaks during these months—averaging a beefy 2.0-2.2m with 14s+ periods from the SSW—the wind ruins the surface. The ideal wind percentage plummets to a mere 2-4% from June through August. Those stormy seas churn up chop and closeouts, making most sessions a battle against the elements. Only a rare passing trough or a brief lull in the trade winds can offer a fleeting window of ridable, albeit gutless, waves. For most, it's a time for travel elsewhere or to appreciate the raw power of the ocean from the shore.
