Best Surf Season (November - February)

The winter months deliver the most consistent surf at The Radisson, driven by the North Atlantic's storm track. Swell from the NE through ESE quadrants is abundant, with average heights hovering around 0.8-1.0m and periods often in the 8-9 second range. The wind regime is a mixed bag, but offshore flows from the SW-WNW quadrant occur around 14-16% of the time, offering clean, groomed conditions when they align. This is your prime window for punchy, rideable waves, especially when a strong low pressure system swings by.

Fair Surf Season (March - April & September - October)

Spring and autumn transitional months bring a blend of leftover winter swell and nascent summer patterns. Swell heights average 0.8-0.9m, with periods still respectable in the 8-9 second range. However, the onshore winds become more persistent, especially from the E and ESE, limiting the number of good surf days to roughly 10-13% of the time. When a cold front clears out and winds clock to the west, you can find fun, rippable waves, but patience is key.

Low Surf Season (May - August)

The summer doldrums settle in with a vengeance. Average swell heights drop to 0.5-0.7m, and periods shorten to 7.6-8.1 seconds, producing weak, mushy waves. The dominant swell direction remains from the E-ESE, but the energy is low, often just windswell. Offshore winds are rare (8-11%), and the prevailing onshore breezes from the east and southeast chop up what little swell there is. This is the time for longboards and grovelers, or simply waiting for the occasional tropical disturbance to spin up.

April: Fading Winter, Rising Onshores

As winter loosens its grip, the average swell height dips to 0.8m with a period of 8.1s. The swell direction shifts even more easterly—E dominates at 28.0%, with ENE at 20.6%. Groundswell decreases as the storm track weakens. Ideal wind holds at 13%, but onshore winds from the E and ESE now exceed 24% combined, creating chop. Surf quality suffers, but occasional clean windows still produce fun, rippable waves in the 0.5-1.5m range, especially if a stalled front sends fresh swell from the NE.
