Yo-Yos seasonal overview

Yo-Yos in Indonesia is a consistent year-round surf spot with a strong reliance on ground swells, which dominate throughout the year, rarely dropping below 90% presence. The swell size averages between 1.4m and 2.0m, peaking from June to September with the largest waves (1.8m–2.0m). However, wind conditions play a crucial role in surf quality here. The best months for favorable wind conditions are February (38% good winds) and January (30% good winds), despite still having a majority of bad wind days. From May through December, wind quality deteriorates significantly, with the worst conditions from July to October (only 8–11% good wind days). While the swell is reliable in size and consistency, the onshore winds make the peak swell season (June–September) less ideal unless you catch rare clean days. If you prioritize cleaner conditions over sheer swell size, January and February offer the best balance with manageable winds and solid 1.5m–1.6m swells. For advanced surfers willing to gamble on wind luck, the bigger June–September swells can deliver epic sessions, but expect mostly challenging wind-affected waves.
