Best Surf Season (October - November)

October and November mark the prime window for Tuason Point, offering the best blend of consistent swell and favorable offshore winds. As the northeast monsoon begins to strengthen, the Pacific feeds the region with moderate-sized, long-period groundswells. Average wave heights hover around 1.1-1.3m with periods of 9.9-10.2s, providing powerful, rippable surf. Crucially, this transition period also sees the highest percentage of offshore winds from the west to northwest quadrant, with October boasting an impressive 37% ideal conditions. The result is clean, well-shaped waves peeling along the east-southeast facing beach. While still a gamble, these months yield the greatest chance of scoring quality surf without the heavy onshore winds that plague other seasons.

Fair Surf Season (December - April, September)

The fair season at Tuason Point splits into two distinct chapters. From December through February, the northeast monsoon is in full force, delivering the largest swells of the year (averaging 1.6-1.7m) with long, powerful periods. However, these months are heavily dominated by onshore easterly winds (E-ENE), which blow directly into the beach and ruin wave shape. Only 3-8% of the time do offshore winds align, but when they do, the waves can be pumping and heavy. Moving into March and April, the swell subsides to a more manageable 1.1-1.3m, while wind patterns start to shift. The percentage of ideal offshore flow increases to 4-8%, and occasional pulses of SW monsoon influence can bring cleaner conditions. September stands out as a fair month as well, with average swell of 0.8m and the highest ideal wind percentage of the year (38%). The waves are small but long-period (9.5s) and often glassy, allowing for fun groveling sessions.

Low Surf Season (May - August)

From May through August, the south-west monsoon takes hold, bringing a dramatic drop in swell height to an average of just 0.7-0.8m and shorter periods of 8.4-9.0s. This is the smallest surf of the year, and the waves are often weak and choppy. While the southwest monsoon does increase the frequency of offshore westerly winds (especially from June onward, with ideal wind percentages climbing from 12% in May to 33% in August), the lack of significant swell energy means waves rarely exceed waist-high. The spot can be fun on a high-volume board or during a summer windswell pulse, but overall the surf quality is low. June and July are the absolute low point for both wave size and period, though August sees a slight improvement in period and wind consistency. Still, for most surfers, these months are best reserved for travel or waiting for the next season to build.
