Antonio's seasonal overview

Best Surf Season (October - March)

The North Atlantic roars to life in October and continues through March, bringing Antonio's its biggest, most consistent and most powerful surf of the year. Average swell heights sit in the 4-6ft (1.2-1.8m) range with periods regularly reaching the 10-second mark, giving this NNW-facing beach the long-period groundswell it needs to light up. The dominant NE and NNE swell components are strong in the statistics, but the real magic happens when N, NW and NNW groundswell align with the beach's exposed angle. The main downside is wind: the same winter storm track that sends the swell often pumps NE/ENE trades, so true offshore S/SW/SO flow is only present 33-57% of the time depending on the month. Catch a low-pressure system moving through at the right spot and you get the full package-strong swell, lighter winds and beautiful lineup.

Fair Surf Season (April - May & September)

The shoulder months are a trade-off at Antonio's. Average wave heights ease to 3-4ft (1.0-1.3m) and periods shorten, but offshore wind frequency improves dramatically, climbing to 50-63%. This makes for clean, glassy conditions on a smaller scale. April, May and September each offer a mix of NE/ENE trade swell and early or late-season N/NNE pulses, while tropical systems can also inject unexpected energy, especially in September. It is not the deep winter juice that makes Antonio's famous, but for a fun, rippable session on a manageable board, these months can still deliver.

Low Surf Season (June - August)

Summer is the quiet season at Antonio's. Average swell heights drop to around 3ft (1.0m) and periods shrink below 7.5 seconds, leaving mostly short-period windswell from ENE and E that struggles to wrap into the NNW-facing sandbar. True N/NW groundswell is almost absent from the data. The silver lining is wind: S/SW offshore flow is frequent during these months, especially June, which keeps the small waves clean and playful. But for anyone chasing size and power, this is the season for groveling, logging and waiting for the first autumn storm track to reawaken the Atlantic.
