February: Persistent Trade-Wind Surge

February continues the winter pattern with average swell height holding at 1.5m (5ft) and period a hair lower at 9.8s. The swell distribution remains dominated by NE and ENE directions - NE 29.0%, ENE 29.2% and NNE 19.8% - with a meaningful share of 1-1.5m and 1.5-2m waves. While the SSE, SW and W sectors are virtually absent, the consistent northern quadrant swell is enough to keep Crash Boat alive on most days. Because the beach faces WSW, the northeast energy is far from ideal, but a west-southwest-facing break can still pick up appreciable wrap when the period stays above 9 seconds.

Wind-wise, the offshore flow is strong again: ENE comprises 37.6% of the observations and E 22.6%, both blowing from land to sea. The ideal wind rating stands at 40%, and when those clean offshore conditions align with the larger swells, the peaks line up nicely. Daily air temperatures remain a balmy 25°C with water at 26.3°C, so the winter chill never reaches the tropics. The main limitation is that the swell direction rarely rotates into the optimal SSW-W window, but patient surfers can still find fun peaks on the winter swells.
