Jupiter Inlet seasonal overview

Best Surf Season (October - March)

Jupiter Inlet is an east-facing Florida jewel that comes alive when the North Atlantic wakes up. From October through March, cold fronts roll off the continent and drag west-northwest winds toward the coast, setting up the offshore flow that this beach needs. Swell averages climb to 4ft (1.2m) or better, periods push into the 8-second zone, and there are consistent pulses of NE and ENE groundswell generated by Nor'easters and low-pressure systems. Post-frontal mornings are the golden window: clean, lined-up surf with light offshore winds.

Fair Surf Season (April & September)

These shoulder months offer potential but demand some luck. April still has decent ENE/E swell, but the Bermuda High begins to build and onshore ESE/SE winds start chewing up the surface. September is the tropical wildcard, with hurricane and tropical-storm swells capable of producing solid surf, but often accompanied by messy east winds. When a tropical system stays offshore or a fall front clears the coast, Jupiter can still turn on.

Low Surf Season (May - August)

The summer doldrums are real. From May through August, the subtropical ridge locks in and the wind becomes a steady, onshore E/ESE/SE trade flow. Average swell heights drop to 2-3ft (0.6-0.9m) and periods sink to 6-7 seconds, leaving mostly soft, wind-driven slop. Early mornings can offer clean small waves, but the percentage of ideal surf conditions plummets to single digits in July. Only a passing tropical wave or a stalled summer storm can break the monotony.
