T-Street seasonal overview
Best Surf Season (December - February)
The T-Street surf year is all about the winter months. With the North Pacific storm track aimed squarely at Southern California, December, January and February deliver the most consistent W/WSW groundswell while interior high pressure pumps northeast offshore flow. Ideal wind is favorable 45-54% of the time, average wave periods hover around 12-12.5s, and wave heights sit mostly in the 2-3ft (0.6-0.9m) range, with more 3-5ft (0.9-1.5m) sets showing up in February and early March. Water temperatures hover in the low teens Celsius, so dawn patrol requires rubber, but the glassy, lined-up conditions are well worth it.
Fair Surf Season (March - May, October - November)
March and April actually push the average swell height up to 1.0m (3.3ft), but the strengthening Pacific High begins to generate more onshore SW/WSW wind, cutting ideal wind percentages to 22-32%. May holds excellent long-period swell but the sea breeze becomes relentless, dropping true offshore flow to only 10%. The fall side is much more promising: October and November see ideal wind jump back to 32-47%, with a solid mix of WSW, W and SW swells. These shoulder months can produce photogenic, rippable T-Street waves when the wind plays ball.
Low Surf Season (June - September)
Summer is South Pacific groundswell season at T-Street. The southern hemisphere keeps a steady diet of long-period SSW/SW/WSW swell running, but average heights drop to 0.8-0.9m (2.6-3ft) and the prevailing westerly sea breeze chops the surface up badly. Ideal offshore flow sits at a lowly 8-18% throughout the season, meaning most afternoons are blown out, bumped up, or soft. Dawn patrol is the only reliable window for clean, semi-glassy conditions, and occasional pulses of long-period southern hemi energy can still make 3-5ft (0.9-1.5m) fun waves.
