Best Surf Season (April - September)

As autumn settles in, the Southern Ocean storm track shifts north and starts firing long-period groundswell at this south-southwest-facing corner of Australia. From April through September, average wave heights climb from around 5ft (1.5m) to a solid 5.6ft (1.7m), while swell periods sit in the powerful 12-13s range. The wind regime also improves dramatically: the north to north-northwest quadrant becomes the dominant synoptic flow, giving Express Point clean offshore conditions anywhere from 24 to 31 percent of the time.
