Best Surf Season (April - September)

Situated on Australia's northwest coast, Tombstones is a fickle NW-facing break that demands a carefully aligned mix of long-period groundswell and offshore wind. The most consistent quality arrives between April and September, when the Southern Ocean storm track is at its most active. Average wave periods climb from 13.3s in April to a peak of 14.1s in July and August, while average swell heights sit in the 4-5ft (1.3-1.6m) range. The percentage of ideal wind jumps to 28-37%, with S through WSW offshore flows grooming the face. Although true N/NW swell remains rare, long-period SSW/SW groundswell wraps into the NW-facing coast and provides the best surf of the year.
