October: Transition Humidity and Building Groundswell

October is a transitional month, and the ocean reflects that indecision. The average swell height remains solid at around 7ft (2.1m), the period holds at 11.1s, and ideal wind flow is still low at 8 percent. Trade winds from ESE (28.9%) and SE (26.3%) are still present, but they are less intense than the mid-year peak and are increasingly punctuated by lighter E and SSE flow. Swell direction is again dominated by SSE (46.6%) and SE (27.0%), with S (12.6%) as a secondary source. There is a large 5-8ft (1.5-2.5m) component, especially from SSE and SE, and the first hints of a return to westerly swells are still absent from the statistics. With water temperature rising to 27.9°C, air temps at 27.1°C and precipitation up to 6.50mm/day, the atmosphere feels more tropical and humid. October is still more about waiting than scoring, but each passing week brings the return of cleaner wind patterns closer.
