Best Surf Season (October - March)

Lawrencetown Beach juts into the North Atlantic with a south-facing exposure, which means the premium swell window comes from the SSE through SW quadrant. From October through March, the climatological storm machine revs up over the western Atlantic, spinning low-pressure systems and nor'easters that feed this stretch of Nova Scotia coastline a steady diet of SSW, SW and S swell. Average wave heights sit at 4-6ft (1.4-1.7m) with periods averaging 8.2-8.7 seconds - punchy, powerful and rideable. More importantly, ideal offshore wind from the N, NNE, NE and NNW blows 31-35% of the time, giving the beach its cleanest, most organized waves of the year. Cold water and air keep crowds thin, but the reward is consistent, quality surf.
