Best Surf Season (November - March)

The North Atlantic roars to life during the winter months and Martinique's south-southeast-facing beach lines up directly with the dominant S/SSW groundswell trains spun up by powerful extratropical cyclones and Nor'easters tracking off the Eastern Seaboard. Average wave heights sit in the 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) range with punchy 8-9s periods, and the wind rose frequently delivers the cold northwest offshore flow needed to turn lumpy storm surf into clean, rippable peaks. The trade-off is brutal: air temperatures hover below freezing, water temps drop to near 0°C, and winter gear is absolutely essential. This is hardcore Atlantic Canada surfing, but when the stars align, Martinique can be firing.
