Optimal conditions align when mid-to-high tides meet easterly winds, allowing for long, hollow barrels that stretch down the reef. For One Palm Point, the sweet spot of the year is April through June. Average wave heights climb from around 5ft (1.5m) to 6ft (1.8m), while average wave periods sit in the powerful 13.8-14.4 second range. Ideal wind percentages reach their annual peak at 56-60%, and the offshore S/SSW/SW/WSW windows become far more regular. This is when long-period Southern Ocean groundswell wrapping into the northwest-facing point finds clean, organized faces. The trades are building, but the wind windows are still workable, especially in the morning.
