Best Surf Season (April - June)
For One Palm Point, the sweet spot of the year is April through June. Average wave heights climb from around 5ft (1.5m) to 6ft (1.8m), while average wave periods sit in the powerful 13.8-14.4 second range. Ideal wind percentages reach their annual peak at 56-60%, and the offshore S/SSW/SW/WSW windows become far more regular. This is when long-period Southern Ocean groundswell wrapping into the northwest-facing point finds clean, organized faces. The trades are building, but the wind windows are still workable, especially in the morning.
Fair Surf Season (July - November)
The fair season at One Palm Point is a battle between size and wind. July through September produces the largest swells of the year, averaging 6.5-7ft (2-2.1m) with 14+ second periods, but the southeast trades strengthen dramatically and shred the surface, dropping ideal-wind frequency to as low as 10%. October and November ease back to 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) as the trades relax, offering better conditions but with less underlying power. If you time the tide and wind right, there are excellent, heavy days; just expect a lot of chop and blown-out hours in between.
Low Surf Season (December - March)
December through March marks the return of the northwest monsoon to Indonesia. The energetic pulse remains, with averages hovering around 5ft (1.5m), but average periods shorten to 12-13 seconds and WNW/NW onshore winds dominate the wind rose for long stretches. Ideal offshore wind frequencies drop to 15-35%, and rainfall totals rise above 7.5mm/day. Surf is still rideable and sometimes punchy, but One Palm Point is at its most inconsistent and weather-affected during these months.
