January is Entella at its winter peak. The average swell height sits at 0.8m (2-3ft) and the mean period climbs to 5.9s, right on the edge of the rideable Mediterranean windswell scale. Directional data shows SW as the clear engine room at 30.9 percent of all wave energy, with secondary WSW at 10.9 percent and SSW at 7.4 percent pushing the surf squarely into the SSW-facing beach's preferred window. Combined, the S through WSW quadrant accounts for over half of all January waves, and while most arrive below 1m (3ft), the SW lobe also holds meaningful 1.5-2.5m (5-8ft) percentages, the kind of mid-winter juice that can light up the Riviera when it aligns.

The wind side is equally favourable. NNE is the dominant wind direction at 25.9 percent, supported by NE at 9.3 percent and N at 5.0 percent, all offshore for this exposure. With an ideal window 18 percent of the time, January offers the best chance of groomed, punchy peaks. When a Gulf of Genoa low kicks up a SW sea and the NNE flow keeps the face clean, you can find proper little winter waves. Air temperatures average 3.6°C while water holds at 14.3°C, so break out the 4/3 and enjoy the most consistent run of surf on the calendar.
