Nestled on the eastern tip of Veymandhoo pass, Adonis is a reef break that quietly earns its keep among those who know where to find it. Easy access and a low-key atmosphere draw a savvy mix of locals and explorers seeking reliable, unfussy waves away from the spectacle of more famous Maldivian lineups. The vibe is relaxed, the scenery is a welcome bonus, and the crowds are thin—making it a solid option for a session without the circus. Adonis delivers a primarily right-hander off a reef bottom, best when a southwest swell fills in with at least two feet of energy. Southeast swells also register, though with less consistency. Mid to high tide is the sweet spot, smoothing the reef and shaping the wave face. A north wind is your ally, tidying up the surface and adding that extra bit of shoulder to the ride. This is intermediate territory—challenging enough to sharpen your skills, forgiving enough that you won’t feel over your head. Best Surf Season (March - April)

The Indian Ocean monsoon machine shifts through the equatorial atolls and, for Adonis, the sweet spot arrives during the late northeast monsoon and the following intermonsoon lull. March and April deliver the highest percentage of ideal offshore wind flow and the longest average swell periods of the year, with March peaking in both consistently rideable SSE/S swell directions and a very healthy 56 percent ideal wind score. April holds the crown for cleanest surface conditions with 60 percent ideal wind and 12.0s average period, although the swell angle becomes more SSW/SW-oriented. Expect warm, glassy mornings and clean, long-period lines in the 2-5ft (0.6-1.5m) range.
