The Indian Ocean monsoon engine drives everything at Isdhoo. When the southwest monsoon becomes established, it pushes the trade winds from the southern quadrants, creating the cleanest offshore flow for this north-facing beach. May through September delivers the highest percentage of ideal wind - between 39% and 54% - and average swell heights climb to 4ft (1.2-1.3m). Wave periods sit in the 6.6-7.3s range, meaning a punchy, rideable, short-period windswell rather than an epic long-period groundswell. True north-directed swell is rare, but the relentless southern monsoon windswell, combined with offshore winds, provides the most consistent surf of the year.
