September: The Wildcard Month

September is Acapulquito's wildcard. Average swell height stays up at 1.2m (4ft), and the period remains a respectable 12.6s, but ideal wind drops to 73%. S swell still dominates at 64.3%, with SSW at 26.5% and a growing contribution from SSE and SE as tropical cyclones roam the eastern Pacific. This is the month with the most 1.5-2m (5-6.5ft) and 2-2.5m (6.5-8ft) energy, and there is even a small hint of over-2.5m (8ft+) XL energy from SSE. The problem is consistency - when a hurricane or tropical storm sits close, winds turn onshore from the ESE-to-SSE quadrant and conditions become lumpy and messy. Between systems, though, the WNW and W winds restore order and the long-period south pulse wraps beautifully into the east-facing beach. Rainfall climbs to 3.07 mm/day, water temperature reaches 29.8°C, and air temperatures average 28.0°C. September offers the biggest waves of the year, but also the most risk.
