Best Surf Season (July - October)

Colotepec's most consistent combination of size and clean surface conditions comes between July and October. Southern Hemisphere winter storms and Eastern Pacific tropical cyclones feed the beach with SSW/S groundswell averaging 1.5-1.7m (5-5.5ft) at 13-14 second periods, while the wind remains favorable 46-57 percent of the time. This is the period when the SSW-facing sandbars have both the raw power and enough offshore N/NNE/NE/NNW wind windows to deliver truly memorable surf.

Fair Surf Season (November - February)

The dry season creates pristine, glassy conditions, but at the cost of size. Swell drops to 1.1-1.3m (3.5-4.3ft), while ideal wind jumps to 56-62 percent. This is the best time for clean, rippable waves and longboarders; the lineup is still well organized by long-period SSW/S swells, but the heavy, top-to-bottom power of summer is less common.

Low Surf Season (March - June)

March through June is the least reliable window for quality. The swell technically increases, reaching 1.4-1.6m (4.5-5.2ft) with periods up to 14s, but the percentage of clean wind falls to 41-48 percent. Westerly and southwesterly flows frequently add chop to the SSW groundswell, and the onset of the rainy season brings high humidity, heavy showers and more mixed conditions. Not a flat season, but one that demands careful timing.
