Best Surf Season (May - November)

This is the most consistent window for small, rideable surf at Playa Las Bovedas. The Intertropical Convergence Zone migrates north, the Caribbean trade winds ease, and ideal offshore wind jumps to 13-22% of the time. The swell remains predominantly SSW, with 25-40% of waves falling in the 1.6-3.3ft (0.5-1m) range - groveling-sized but clean. It isn't overhead, but a 1.6ft (0.5m) average with a glassy surface is far better than what the dry season offers.

Fair Surf Season (April & December)

These shoulder months are transitional. April holds onto dry-season winds but sees the annual peak in swell period at 13.5s and the first meaningful 1.6-3.3ft (0.5-1m) waves. December is the mirror image: wet-season moisture can linger early, but trade winds rebuild and ideal wind drops back to 5%. Both months can offer clean windows, but consistency is low.

Low Surf Season (January - March)

This is the heart of the dry season and the lowest point for wave quality. Average heights sink to 1ft (0.3m), ideal surfing wind is 0-1%, and strong NNW/N trade winds put a persistent chop on the surface. Periods actually look good at 11.5-13.1s, but the energy is almost entirely SSW below 1.6ft (0.5m) - not enough to create quality waves at this east-southeast-facing spot.
