The most favorable window at Oscar Point is late austral summer, especially February and March. Offshore-flow percentages reach their yearly peak-4% in February and 6% in March-while average swell sits at a manageable 5-6ft (1.5-1.8m) with 13+s periods. The wave direction is overwhelmingly from the SSW and SW quadrants, so when a rare N/NE land breeze lines up with that groundswell, the point offers clean, powerful, rippable waves. Water temperatures hover near 19°C, making it the most comfortable time of year as well.
