September is the first clue that the surf season is creeping back. Average swell height remains moderate at 1.2m, period firms to 7.5s, and the wave direction distribution becomes genuinely mixed. Favorable northern energy is recovering: NNE supplies 20%, NE 8%, NNW 10% and N 6%, for a combined 44% of the wave rose, while SW has dropped to 20%, WSW to 12% and SSW to 6%. This is the month where northern pulses and lingering SW monsoon windswell can coexist, giving Badoc Island Lefts more rideable days, especially in the 1-1.5m (3-5ft) range.

Wind quality remains relatively good. S/SSW/SW offshore winds still account for around 33% of the wind rose, and ideal conditions are present 43% of the time. The monsoon is weakening, but typhoon activity is still a major player.
