Best Surf Season (November - February)

The northeast monsoon (Amihan) drives the most consistent surf of the year at Puro Pinget from November through February. Cold fronts and low pressure systems over the North Pacific pump fresh N and NNW swell toward the Philippine Sea, while the exposed NNW-facing sand takes the brunt of it. Average wave heights build to 1.0-1.2m (3-4ft) with periods of 7.7-8.0s - punchy, rideable waves that can push head-high on the bigger sets. However, the trade winds blow hard from the ENE-NE quadrant much of the time, so the window is often gutless unless a light offshore flow from the S to WSW quadrant aligns. Storms tracking through the South China Sea can also add a secondary pulse. This is the time to chase Puro Pinget with a flexible schedule.

Fair Surf Season (March, September - October)

Shoulder seasons are a mixed bag. In September and October, the southwest monsoon fades and the first N/NNW swell pulses begin to filter in, often coinciding with a higher frequency of S to SSW offshore winds - giving clean, if inconsistent, waves. March sees the reverse, with the NE monsoon weakening and remaining N/NNW swell gradually flattening out. These months reward patience and a keen eye on the forecast charts.

Low Surf Season (April - August)

From April through August, the southwest monsoon (Habagat) dominates the Philippines. The island sits under a persistent SW/S flow that, while often offshore at this spot, pushes swell from the southwest - the exact opposite of Puro Pinget's optimal window. Wave heights may occasionally reach 1-1.5m from the SW/WSW, but the direction is poor and the structure is messy. June through August sees heavy rainfall and typhoon activity, which can throw local windswell around, but direction remains unfavorable. Unless a typhoon tracks perfectly to generate a distant N pulse, this is the quiet season at Puro Pinget.
