The waves themselves are versatile, with a primary appetite for northwest swells, though it can also handle pulses from the southwest and northeast. When the swell drops in, even just 1 foot (0.3 meters), Puro comes alive, peeling left and right over a mix of sand and dead coral — a bottom that demands respect and, ideally, booties. Southeast winds groom the faces best, and the spot remains rideable through all tide stages, with low, mid, and high each offering their own character. Best Surf Season (November - February)

The northeast monsoon (Amihan) drives the most consistent surf of the year at Puro Pinget from November through February. Cold fronts and low pressure systems over the North Pacific pump fresh N and NNW swell toward the Philippine Sea, while the exposed NNW-facing sand takes the brunt of it. Average wave heights build to 1.0-1.2m (3-4ft) with periods of 7.7-8.0s - punchy, rideable waves that can push head-high on the bigger sets. However, the trade winds blow hard from the ENE-NE quadrant much of the time, so the window is often gutless unless a light offshore flow from the S to WSW quadrant aligns. Storms tracking through the South China Sea can also add a secondary pulse. This is the time to chase Puro Pinget with a flexible schedule.
